Insurance and FSA/HSA Eligibility

Did you know that birth classes are eligible for reimbursement through most HSA/FSA plans?

3 quick steps to see if you can get your classes covered

Step 1: Check Your Benefits

Insurance: Call the number on the back of your insurance card and directly ask a representative if your plan covers the cost of childbirth education.

Spending Account: Contact your HSA/FSA administrator to confirm class reimbursement and get details on required docs.

Step 2: Purchase Your Class

Once you're good to go, grab the classes of your choosing from Childbirth Allies!

Make sure you keep your purchase details or any other required documents your insurance company might need.

We're here to help! Reach out to childbirthallies@gmail.com with any questions.

Step 3: Get Reimbursed

Send in any required paperwork to your insurance or spending account, then kick back and wait for that refund to roll in!

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at childbirthallies@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A letter of medical necessity (LMN) is a note from your healthcare provider explaining why you need a specific service, like a birth class!

If your insurance asks for one to process your reimbursement, just request it at your next prenatal visit.

Most providers are familiar with LMNs and might even have a template ready to go!

Possibly! It's best to call your plan administrator first to make sure you won't run into any issues later. They can guide you on whether you can use your card directly or if you need to go through the reimbursement process with an itemized receipt.

CPT codes help healthcare providers describe the services they offer, so insurance companies can figure out the right reimbursement amount.

For childbirth classes, the CPT code you'll need is: S9436

A diagnosis code is used to identify a patient’s medical condition and helps with billing and insurance.

For childbirth education, the diagnosis code you'll need is: Z32.2
